CASSETTE PLAYA FALL 09

London-based eclectic designer Carri Mundene aka CASSETTE PLAYA back with the campaign “BELIEVE IN FLESH+METAL” for her Autumn/Winter 09 collection. If her previous collection is more cheerful and colorful, now she tries to intact with more dark vibrant colors. Black and white are still dominating even some colors are added to accentuate the atmosphere.

BALLETCATS

Started their concept based on the local myth “if you hit a cat without burying it, your car will crash“. Well maybe it’s too freaky. And it’s up to you whether you believe it or not. But this couple, do believe on most of their designs. The Balletcats is a clothing label and schizophrenic world of Jordan Marzuki, The September 16th 1987 Jakarta born Indonesian visual artist, graphic designer, Lasalle College International Jakarta graduates and full time cat snob, with the help from Fatriana Zukhra – A Lasalle College fashion business student . TBC started in April 2008, as some hand drawn illustrations on clothes and collaboration with artists around the world. The world of The Balletcats described as dark fairy tale that taking part on the odd side of human everyday life and the innocence of living animals. It’s like Alice committed suicide in Wonderland. Their works influenced by the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Coen Brothers & Quentin Tarantino very much.

And my opinion is: i’ve spent 2 years browsing some cool fashion webs, but theirs is truly o’some website with cute-fairytale-like artwork, conceptual photoshoots, and “wise” old-saying. What else?

SOLID GOLD

Came to wreck the stagnancy, Born to reign the legacy. Solid Gold emerged from the rough-contoured landscape of Semarang City on 2008. Solid Gold manifested its roots on the left-hand path which others may not take. Began its empire as a feeling of boredom on nowadays cliché clothing industries which gone through similarity and copycat attitude, Solid Gold went on a bold yet sharp designs containing the love of prominent things such as favorite music, mythology, and Crowley’s occultism with burst of sincerity as the icing of the cake. Solid Gold’s S/S 08 limited collection threw out simple but iconic typography mayhem silk-screened on heavy duty cotton. Thanks to the hand-crafted cut and sewn, its specialty goes to the edgy yet strong sewn which probably the best in town. As strong as its unique character.

Took a bareback riding on a jezebel and jumped onto the King Midas myth. Solid Gold continued to climb on top with once again limited collection A/W 09 including the distinctive collaboration with Semarang’s metal juggernaut Bring Her Head to Athena entitled “M.I.D.A.S”. And also pay a good attention to the black and white gargantuan print of King ov Hell in their latest design, this time is for blackest of the black summer holiday. Don’t worry too much, you won’t wear the same t-shirt like your lame neighbors have, Solid Gold concerns in what they call “you-know-that-i-dope” ethic which means limited numbers of t-shirts = dope to the fullest. Only around 20 were made and no re-release. So to speak, once they’re gone they’re gone forever. You have to be fast and be the raddest bloke in the hood.

ANTI SWEDEN

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After punk has been “exploited” in manner of fashion. Now the dullest black metal has been risen from the depths of hell. This brand, Anti Sweden, works up with Justin Bartlett focusing on sharp characteristic jeans with awesome details and unique form, despite their exploitation on black metal movement. I wonder how Dark Throne would react on this…

The thought of creating ORE popped out after a quite long time meeting juggernauts of great friends, artists, and designers at gigs, parties, galleries and friend’s houses. And having great chances to travel overseas and see such staggering diversity in youth cultures and opportunities doesn’t make them leave their roots, but more like being encouraged to rotate their household so as to enthuse the locals and support the myriad aptitude towards fashion and art!
